Former Dean,Faculty of Law, University of Jos, Prof. Dakas CJ Dakas, has identified community policing as key to enduring security in the country.
He told The Nation that community policing was the best option for the country’s fragile and complex social and political systems
Dakas spoke on the sidelines of a summit organised by the Plateau State Government with the theme: Domestication of community policing in Plateau State: exploring the indigenous options in Jos.
“The primary objective of the dialogue was to weave the current national discourse on decentralisation of security in the face of breaches that are threatening national unity by finding acceptable ways of incorporating community participation in the present security architectural framework in the state”, Dakas added.
His views were echoed by other participants at the summit, including Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong.
Lalong noted that the summit became essential following recent incidents of violence in the state.
